In this module, students gain the necessary knowledge and skills to develop an intervention that fosters sustainable behaviours. Through their own actions and behaviours, individuals can contribute to the achievement of important environmental goals (e.g., 2000-watt society).
However, such environmental goals often make it necessary for individuals to change their behaviours (e.g. switching from car to public transport). Due to various psychological barriers, such as habits or inertia, information campaigns and other traditional approaches to changing behaviours often fail. New approaches, such as nudging, are promising solutions, since they also consider the «irrational» factors that influence people’s decision-making and behaviours.
